Why we are waiting to have children

Hi friends! So glad you’re here!!

I posted a few polls on my Instagram where I asked if you wanted more lifestyle/personal posts and you guys wanted me to talk about more personal everyday matters. I wanted to discuss something with you that’s personal to me, but hanging on my heart lately. Let’s get into it!

My husband and I dated for 4 years before he proposed and this year will be 7 years since we started dating. We got married on 05-21-16 when I was 19 and he was 22. Yes, we definitely tied the knot super young, but when you know you know.  However, since we decided to marry so young we have definitely went through a lot of struggles together and we really had to grow up together.

We both discussed children, college, careers and honestly just what we wanted out of life before children came along. We both love kids and absolutely want to start a family, but the timing just wasn’t right. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually want to live my life before being a full time parent. When I say live my life I am meaning traveling, going out on dates with my husband, having a lazy day where we do absolutely nothing, and doing things spontaneously. I’m not saying any of those things aren’t possible with children, but it’s definitely a challenge taking them along compared to just the two of you. A child is another human life that you have to care for EVERYDAY idk how I feel about that yet because honestly sometimes I forget to brush my hair. My hubby and I kid around all the time saying you know that child has to live with us every night and stay in our house and we have to feed it LOL! You know how sometimes you get so busy that you forget to eat or just straight up don’t have time? Yeah same!

This May we will be celebrating 3 years of marriage and I honestly can’t believe it’s been 3 years since we said I DO it feels like it’s been 15 years! We feel more ready now than we ever have well let me rephrase that “I feel more ready than I ever have” Jordan has been ready for a baby for A LONG TIME. He’s been really supportive of me wanting to wait and letting me finish school. If you read my Nursing School blog post last year then you know that I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally figured out what I want to do. My goal is to finish school before any babies, but if it’s in God’s perfect timing then I’m okay with that!

Let me know if you can relate!

Holiday Gift Guide FOR HIM

The hardest person to shop for is always a man. HOPEFULLY this makes it a little easier for you. I decided to mix this Gift Guide FOR HIM up. It has a little bit of everything..outdoors items, clothing, tech and grilling. Jordan (my hubby) has a lot of these items and he likes them so I think your man will as well 🙂

1. Beard Growth Vitamins

Jordan just started taking these about a month ago and likes the results. He can grow a full beard in about 2 weeks or so, but not evenly so the vitamins help make all his hair grow at the same speed.

2. Leather Belt

This is a best seller on Amazon and it has great reviews…only $14.85!!

3. 4 Piece Wood Grill Set

$15.95! I bought my dad this for Christmas one year and the quality seems good for the price point.

4. Wrist Wraps

These would be great for the gym.

5. Tim McGraw Cologne

My dad has this and it smells SO SO good! Trust me you need this for your man ladies. I’m probably getting this for Jordan.

6. Call of Duty PS4

Jordan has this and plays all the time. I asked him out of all his games which one is his favorite and this was the winner. If you want to keep ya man busy and out of your hair then definitely buy this LOL.

7. Stanley Spotlight

Every man needs a good flashlight. If your man is country then you know he wants this to “shine” deer.

8. Car Vac

Who am I kidding?? I need this! My hubby likes to clean his truck, but not the inside so I should probably buy him this. Maybe he will take the hint!

9. Columbia Jacket

I swear this is one of the best brands for men’s clothing. Great quality!  I would say 50% of my brother and husbands closets are Columbia!

10. Pullover Sweater

This looks so soft and I love the big button detail. This is a great example of something I would get any men in my family for a Christmas gift.

11. Pocket Knife

Necessity! This is a best seller on Amazon!

12. Car Care Kit

Everyone in my family buys this for Jordan. We seriously get 3 a year.. it’s perfect for Jordan to use to wash my car when he makes me mad and wants me to forgive him 🙂

1 (4)

  1. Beard Catcher If your man has hair then I don’t need to even explain why this would make sense to buy 😉  Hair everywhere…. Side note: It never fails every time I clean the bathroom J decides it’s time to shave his entire face…WHY BOY WHY!!
  2. XBOX 360 Rockband Bundle  This is on Jordan’s wishlist this year. I feel like it’s a popular item!
  3. WeatherTech Floor Mats I’ve heard so many good things about these floor mats. I don’t own any, but from friends and reviews online they seem like we all need them for our vehicles. I think any male would love these. Great gift option!
  4. Hex Dumbbell At home weights for ya man to get fit. I bought a set of weights at Walmart, but they are like 5 pounds so those won’t do anything for Jordan 😉
  5. Motorized Heavy Duty Grill Brush My guy received this last year from family and he uses it all the time. He loves cleaning our grill before he cooks on the weekends.
  6. YETI Portable Cooler This would be a smaller version of a YETI cooler. We don’t have one, but I would be lying if I said that Jordan doesn’t want one. This would be perfect for a quick trip or just to keep waters in for your car.
  7. JBL Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker J has this and swears by it. He takes it to work, beach trips, and uses it at home when we just want to jam while we are getting ready to go somewhere.
  8. YETI Roadie Cooler This would be a bigger version of a YETI cooler. Again, we don’t own one but if I bought one for Jordan, it would be this one!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Stocking Stuffer Gift Guides coming next week 🙂

Love you all, Miranda

Victoria Emerson

Happy Halloween BOO!! I wanted to share one of my fav brands to work with Victoria Emerson 🙂 I received 2 beautiful pieces from VE and I love them both, but the necklace is definitely my new fav. I received the two following pieces

  1. Necklace: https://www.victoriaemerson.com/collections/delicate-necklaces/products/cancer-pendant-necklace?variant=1975623057418
  2. Wrap Bracelet: https://www.victoriaemerson.com/collections/wrap-bracelets/products/champagne-emerald-cut-crystals-with-african-turquoise

I love how you unique each piece is! So funny story: I planned on shooting these pieces at a local pumpkin patch. I arrive at the pumpkin patch dressed and ready to go and it’s closed. Of course just my luck. Thankfully one of the employees allowed me to slip in for like 5 minutes to get a few shots. I didn’t realize that he was going to walk around and watch my brother and I shoot LOL. I didn’t get the shots that I wanted, but you get the picture 🙂

Have a Happy Halloween loves!!

1.  Belt Buckle Fedora Hat

I loved this hat so much that I had to order another one. I bought the brown one 3 weeks ago and just ordered the black yesterday. Can’t wait to year these the rest of the year. A hat makes the perfect fall accessory for any outfit.

2. Bluetooth Portable Waterproof Shower Radio

I’ve had this shower radio for a little over a month and it’s awesome. I love being able to jam in the shower. I think my hubs appreciates the music instead of my singing LOL. Such a great quality for a small price!

3. Sunglasses Case

This case is literally my best investment! Idk about you, but I have around 8 pairs of sunglasses so this case is perfect to always have all on hand. It’s super convenient to have several pairs to switch out for blog photos.

Microblading Experience

This post has been on my mind for a few weeks now! I’m so excited to finally share my microblading experience with you friends! For my experience I am collaborated with Nikki from The Total Hair Experience Salon in Jacksonville. However, now Nikki is at LashJax! If you’e in the area you will have to go see her 🙂

When I was discussing options with Nikki I felt compelled to try something that I wouldn’t typically do such as a facial. I wanted to give you my 100% true take on something that a lot of people are interesting in learning more about especially recently. Plus I’ve always hated my eyebrows so it’s a win win 🙂  Have you ever heard the saying your eyebrows should be twins? Well mine are distant cousins. NO JOKE!!! I decided to go with microblading after talking it over with Nikki. I was super nervous going into our consultation because I am such a baby. I’ve always had a crazy fear of needles, but after the consult Nikki’s honesty and sweet personality made me realize I can really trust her judgement.

When scheduling microblading Nikki requires you to have a consult first before the day of your microblading so that you know how to prep and what to do afterwards to take the appropriate care. As well as discussing any contraindications and the necessary dietary changes that need to take place the week and few days before. I found it highly interesting that you can’t drink alcohol 24 hours before, no coffee the day of, avoid listed spices, and other skincare/ treatments listed on your paper that Nikki will provide at your consult.

Here are my personal results from Microbladding….

top photos are before & bottom photos are directly after (Day 1)

*Day 7: with no additional shading (no makeup on eyebrows)

*Day 16: additional shading on eyebrows

This is such a drastic change compared to my eyebrows before.

The microblading process takes a total of 3 hours to complete the pre draw, numbing and the actual microblading. When I arrived I couldn’t believe how beautiful the salon was set up and how nice all of the staff was. Nikki greeted us and then gave my friend and I a look around the salon which ended into her services room. Nikki’s set up is like a modern relaxed spa.

I loved how personable Nikki was with not only myself, but with my friend. She answered every single question that we had for her regarding her services and we talked the entire time about blogging, her career, family, you name it 🙂  Nikki checked on me numerous times during the process which was super nice in my opinion! The entire experience from start to finish was nothing short of amazing! I am so happy with Nikki’s professional service. She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Throughout the process Nikki will numb your eyebrow area to be sure that you have no pain, but if you happen to feel anything she will stop and give you a break and then numb you again to make you comfortable before starting again. Seriously I cant wait to go back!

When Nikki was finished she handed me a mirror and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I had no pain and she had done beautiful work to my brows! I finally have nice eyebrows that won’t take me 15 minutes to fill in every single day! I feel like when your eyebrows are done your makeup looks and feels 100% better…I felt and still feel like a million bucks! Before we left Nikki and I talked about the after care that needs to be done to keep the longevity of my new eyebrows. Nikki told me to wash my eyebrows lightly with Dial soap and use aquaphor during the day and silver solution at night.

The first 4 days after your brows are going to get really dark. They may even get reddish as well. Then they will get really light for about 10 days. This is totally normal. At about day 12-14 your brows will finally look normal again! We then discussed my touch up appointment 6-8 weeks later to see the progress. If you need to go a little bit darker then that is also an option.

Nikki has been a licensed esthetician for 24 years and offers so many services. She offers full treatment facials, enzyme peels, chemical peels, lash lifts and tints, extensions, brow shaping, tint, henna brows, microblading, and she is also a commercial professional makeup artist. If you want to spoil yourself contact my girl Nikki! Her IG is  here or you can email her at Skincare@xmissons.com.

I am so happy that I had the opportunity to work with Nikki and experience her professionalism as well as become more knowledgeable about microblading. If you’re ever in the area stop by Lashjax and see my girl Nikki. Use code “mirandadavis10” for 10% off your service! As always reach out to me if you have any questions or if you just want to chat 🙂

Love ya friends. Miranda 🙂
